Since 1973, Caruth Piano Studio has helped piano students of all ages develop musical skills in performance, technique, ear training, theory, sight reading and accompanying. Caruth Piano Studio has been located in Ankeny, Iowa since 2001. The students of Caruth Piano Studio are well known throughout the state of Iowa for their dedication, skill and high level of success.
Through the piano lesson program at Caruth Studio, students have placed in IMTA District and State auditions, MTNA auditions, Terrace Hill Competition, Starr Competition, Milwaukee Chopin Competition, UNI Festival Scholarship, Dorian Festival, National Guild of Piano Teachers, All-State Accompanist, Bill Riley Talent Show/ Iowa State Fair and many miscellaneous awards including full tuition college scholarships. Aside from their accomplishments large or small, all students celebrate the ability to enjoy music as a life-long endeavor.
Cyndie Caruth, NCTM
Cyndie
Caruth of Ankeny, Iowa has been a certified independent piano
instructor for over 30 years. She was among the first ten in the U.S.
to be nationally certified through the MTNA examination program. Her
students have received honors in district, state, regional and
international competitions. They have also been featured in a variety
of concerto and television performances. Cyndie Caruth graduated from
Iowa State University with a degree in music education. She taught in
the public school five years and directed many community and church
choirs. Cyndie has also served as a church musician/organist for many
years. She actively serves as adjudicator for District and State IMTA
competitions in addition to the Piano Guild and other events in
surrounding states.
Cyndie
Caruth was bestowed the “Friend of
Education” award for her community volunteer work to develop a school
program for accompanists in grades K-4. She has served on the West
Central Division board and the Iowa
Music Teachers board in a variety of capacities. She has mentored many
teachers in her area through IMTA's program. Cyndie was the sole
recipient
of the 2004 “Certified Teacher of the Year” and the “Distinguished
Service Award” at their annual state conference and the first to
ever receive both awards concurrently. Her studio and accomplishments
were featured in the Des Moines Register in 2004. Cyndie is the immediate past president of the Iowa
Music Teachers Association,
having served as president during the 2008-2009 term. She currently
serves on the IMTA Theory committee and writes the state theory and ear
training exams for each of the six levels of performance.
